Abstract
Background and Purpose: The objective of this study was to find out the effect of the active pelvic ti1ting exercise in standing posture made on gait initiation tlrrough the ana1ysis of video fi1m.

Subject and Methods: We performed a pi10t study with a subject who is a man, 29 years old with left hemiplegia due to traumatic brain injury. He had been treated three times a week in outpatient clinic of Severance Rehabi1itation Hospital. The study was carried out with time-series design by sing1e subject design for four weeks from October to November 2006 and fi1med once every Wednesday. The acce1eration time, dece1eration time and one step time were computed based on the data gotten from thirty pictures per second by fi1med dynarnic image being inputted into computer.

Results: The resu1ts of the speed by each period of step before and after treatment through the constant active pelvic ti1ting exercise in standing posture were as follows: After treatment, all of acce1eration time, dece1eration time and one step time were increased every Wednesday compared with that of before when the date was eva1uated. As to the variation time for four weeks before and after treatment, the acce1eration time, dece1eration time and one step time were getting
shorter.

Conclusions: It cou1d be concluded that the active pe1vic ti1ting exercise in standing posture contributed to improve the movement quality and speed of gait initiation during the weight bearing on affected side leg.
